One of the most common questions we get before a boiler installation is: "How long will I be without heating and hot water?" The answer — for most properties — is less than a day.
Like-for-like boiler replacement: 4–6 hours
If you're replacing an old combi boiler with a new combi boiler in the same location, most installations are complete within 4–6 hours. This covers:
We aim to have your heating and hot water running by mid-afternoon.
Boiler in a new location: add 2–4 hours
If the new boiler is being moved to a different position (e.g., from one wall to another, or from a kitchen to an airing cupboard), additional pipework runs add time. Still typically complete in one day.
System changes: 1–2 days
More complex jobs — such as converting from a back boiler to a combi, upgrading from a system boiler to a combi and removing the hot water cylinder, or a full central heating installation in a new property — may take two days.
